Obama and Warren...Together Again

Much has been made of Barack Obama's choice of Pastor Rick Warren as the man that will deliver the prayer at the inauguration on January 20. Gay rights groups feel betrayed because Warren is a traditional marriage guy. Conservatives felt betrayed because Warren didn't press Obama on abortion during the sit down with the candidates at his church. I simply don't see the disconnect here. But, then again, I always look behind the scenes to discern what is actually taking place. Rick Warren and Barack Obama are both members of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). So is John McCain and the Clintons. The CFR is the modern day illuminati. They are the group that sets the policy that guides America and therefore the rest of the world. "The directors of the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) make up a sort of presidium for that part of the establishment that guides our destiny as a nation." - The Christian Science Monitor, 9/1/61. Their main focus is bringing about the one world government standard. Other current noteworthy members include George Soros, Fred Thompson, Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell, Paul Krugman, Henry Kissinger, Alan Greenspan, Robert Gates, Thomas Friedman and Madeline Albright. You can clearly see that political persuasion does not have an effect on membership.



So why is anyone surprised by two members of a secret organization being such pals despite their outward political differences? Behind the scenes, they are on the same team. They strive for the same goal, and that goal is upon us. So instead of crying foul over a prayer, pray for this country and the safety of her and your family.

Wealthiest Nation on Earth, Built Entirely on Debt

America has long been the envy of the world. The economic giant. The manufacturing, farming, financial center of this planet. Do you ever ask yourself how we became so powerful so fast? Well, it is not all ingenuity and hard work. It is mainly built on debt.

Thomas Jefferson warned of the power that private banks could wield over the citizens. Little did he know that big bankers would be responsible for the growth of private banks into the federal government's financial matters. In 1913, with the help and urging of J.P. Morgan, the Federal Reserve system was created. The words "central bank" were not included anywhere in the charter for fear of a revolt against the idea. In fact, President Taft was not for the system, despite the insistent urging of the powerful bankers. They encouraged Teddy Roosevelt, a backer of the plan, to run against Taft in the Republican primary. He lost. The bankers did not give up and formulated an even better plan. The convinced Teddy to run in the general election against Taft and Woodrow Wilson. This shifted the advantage to Wilson who promised to sign the plan into existence. He followed through in late 1913 and the Federal Reserve was here.

Now you may be thinking that the Fed, as we like to call it today, is an arm of the government. You are mistaken. The Fed is a private group of bankers that use you and the government to rake in insane profits out of thin air. Generally, banks double their assets every ten years. That is an alarming rate and this happens despite economic conditions in the country. In fact, they control the economic conditions of the country. You see, since the dollar has been taken off the gold standard, it has no true value. It is an instrument of value that has no value of its own. It is just paper. This is called fiat money. The Feds print it, we borrow it, then we pay it back to them with interest. They create nothing of real value. "In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value." Alan Greenspan way back in 1966.

In 1901, the national debt was $1 billion. Now, that is a big number...one billion. A billion is a thousand million. After World War II, the debt climbed to $25 billion. Ah, but it is just getting revved up. Around 1976, we passed the $630 billion mark. Now we are cooking with gas. But hold on. In the mid 1980's, we passed the $1 trillion mark. A trillion is a thousand billion. By 1990, it was over $2 trillion. How high can this thing grow? In 2003 we reached the $6 trillion level. In 2008, it is estimated that our national debt is just short of $11 trillion. It is growing at a rate of $3.5 billion per day. That is a tab of over $35,000 for every man, woman and child in America. These figures do not include state and local municipality debt either.

Now, let's recap....the Fed is not a government entity yet it sets economic policy and prints money at the request of congress. The dollar is not backed by anything other than a Fed board telling us what it is worth. The Fed controls the economy and Wall Street by restricting or freeing up money and manipulating interest rates. Now, the banks that control all of this and design illegal insurance investment schemes want the people that pay the interest to them to bail them out. Does that sound about right? Someone explain to me what is even keeping this system propped up. Someone please tell me why the entire house of cards will not come tumbling down. Who was it that once said "I love my country, but I fear my government"?

America's School Children

This week, president elect Obama has nominated an old Chicago basketball buddy to head the nation's education system. Arne Duncan is the 44 year old chief of Chicago's public school system. His bio is impressive enough: magna cum laude from Harvard with a degree in Sociology. This may help explain why he is pushing so hard for a gay only high school in the city and to pay students for good grades. The rub is that neither Obama nor Duncan support public schools. Obama's daughters attend the University of Chicago Laboratory School, which Duncan also attended. The bigger rub is that even Chicago teachers do not support public schools. 38% of public school teachers in Chicago send their kids to private schools. That figure is very telling. Studies like the 2004 Thomas Fordham Institute report find big city public school teachers to be more likely than the general population they serve to have their own children in private schools. So what does Mr. Duncan offer the education system in America. More money spent, more specialized schools, no vouchers and no real improvement. Congratulations kids...in all of this, you are the biggest loser.

Colin Powell Thinks You are an Idiot

Remember way back when, when Colin Powell liked John McCain in the primary election? Then he shuffled as he so often does and endorsed Barry for president. Now, he still thinks he has some significance or bearing on the Republican party. He was never in the party before, so why start now? He wants to move conservatives to the middle. He wants to hi-jack the party and make it moderate. Now he is blasting talk radio, the ones that keep the fire going for the base. "Can we continue to listen to Rush Limbaugh? Is this really the kind of party that we want to be when these kinds of spokespersons seem to appeal to our lesser instincts rather than our better instincts?" Well, we sure as hades aren't going to listen to you. Rush and Sean actually endorsed McCain. You endorsed Obama. What makes you think you can tell true conservatives anything. You built your career on the backs of Republicans and never once showed an ounce of gratitude. "I think the party has to stop shouting at the world and at the country. I think that the party has to take a hard look at itself, and I've talked to a number of leaders in recent weeks and they understand that." What leaders? Pelosi and Schumer?

The Republican party is searching for leadership. They are wandering a bit right now. Someone will soon step up and take the role of leading us into the next cycle. Colin Powell is not that man. Colin Powell is a wolf in sheep's dress blues. Colin Powell thinks you are an idiot.

Business as Usual in Illinois

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested Tuesday and charged with carrying on the business of a long line of politicians from the state, conspiracy to benefit financially. When cuffed and given an explanation of the charges, the governor said "I earned that money." Not really, that is just me pondering his thoughts.

What really happened here was the governor offering up the U.S. Senate seat appointment to the highest bidder. According to the criminal complaint, Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state assistance to Tribune Company, the owner of the Chicago Tribune and about a dozen other papers in the U.S., in the sale of Wrigley Field. In return for state assistance, he wanted members of the paper's editorial board who had been critical of him fired. Strike two. He discussed getting appointments to boards along with his wife that would yield big checks with no work. And to put the cherry on top...he wanted an ambassadorship in the Obama administration once he left office. Strike three, you're out. He is also tied to Tony Rezko and Stuart Levine in the affidavit. Ok, that one gets you tossed from the game pal.

Blagojevich took the chief executive's office in 2003 by promising to clean up former Gov. George Ryan's mess. Ryan, a Republican, is serving a 6-year prison sentence after being convicted on racketeering and fraud. A decade-long investigation began with the sale of driver's licenses for bribes and led to the conviction of dozens of people who worked for Ryan when he was secretary of state and governor. See, Illinois is an equal opportunity state. Democrats and Republicans can co-exist in a plethora of greed and crime. Ahh, the Land of Lincoln today looks more like the land of Capone.

Genesis Predicts the Bailout

Genesis explains the bailout years before the corporate heads belly up to the bar in Washington. I am not talking about the Bible here folks. I am talking about the Phil Collins' Genesis. Way back in 1987 on the album "Invisible Touch" the song "Tonight,Tonight,Tonight" was released and made its way up the charts to number three in the U.S. Many of you thought is was a song about a man struggling with his addiction to drugs and meeting with his dealer, but oh no, you couldn't be farther from the truth. Phil was prophetically speaking about the bailout of businesses by the tax payers that would occur over twenty years later. You don't believe me? Well take a gander at these lyrics and decide for yourself.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana is now offering gift certificates for services or the recipient’s choice of birth control.” That’s the pitch on Planned Parenthood of Indiana’s Web site, inviting visitors to purchase gift certificates in $25 increments for all services – including abortion – at its 35 clinics across the state. “The gift certificates are intended for basic, preventive health care, such as annual exams,” a spokeswoman from Planned Parenthood of Indiana (PPIN) told CNSNews.com. “But it’s up to each patient how they use them.” Planned Parenthood Federation of America said PPIN is one of a “handful” of its chapters around the country offering the gift certificates. But critics said Planned Parenthood should not use Christmas as a marketing tool. “The word inappropriate hardly describes Planned Parenthood’s scheme,” said Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., who works for a number of pro-life causes, including Priests for Life. “To give someone a gift card from the nation’s largest abortion business to is to give death for Christmas.” In an Associated Press story, Betty Cockrum, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana, defended the gift certificate campaign, saying it would help the people in the state without health insurance gain access to health care. The Associated Press also reported that Indiana Health Commissioner Dr. Judy Monroe praised the gift certificates as “a really meaningful gift.” But King said she finds them offensive, especially as a taxpayer who contributes to the money the U.S. government gives to Planned Parenthood each year through its Title X funding, which does not include paying for abortions. “No amount of spin can turn this promotion into anything other than an abomination,” King said. “Congress gave Planned Parenthood $3 million last year, and now a chapter of this group is defiling the celebration of our savior’s birth. As one of America’s taxpayers, I want my money back.” Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, told CNSNews.com: “I think in this holiday season where we’re celebrating the birth of our lord and savior Jesus Christ, it’s ironic that Planned Parenthood would take it upon themselves to offer gift certificates that would include giving money to someone who would be looking to have an abortion or seeking an abortion. “I think it’s ironic, it’s a diabolic scheme or scam, however you want to put it, and I just think it’s really sad,” Gardner said.

How brash can these people be? First it was taking donations over the phone for abortions of babies that were of a certain race. Now it is making murder a gift of the season. How far will these people go? And they do it all with a huge influx of your tax money.

Defamation of Religion Resolution or Criminalizing Christianity?

The United Nations General Assembly will once again take up the matter of "protecting religion" sometime this month with another vote on the Defamation of Religion Resolution. This resolution is being put forth by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The measure calls on all countries to ensure their legal systems provide protection against “acts of hatred, discrimination, intimidation and coercion resulting from defamation of religions,”

What is being talked about as a tolerance plan is actually quite the opposite. Although the OIC says the campaign is aimed at protecting all faiths, once again only Islam is cited by name.
The resolution contains language forbidding anyone from speaking negatively about Islam. The punishment ranges from prison time to death. This is an open door for those that wish to persecute Christians or any religion that does not follow the Islamic faith.

U.N. Watch, a Geneva-based organization that monitors the U.N.’s Human Rights Council, acknowledged that the resolution is “aimed at the Western world to intimidate anyone from criticizing radical Islam....”

UN Watch executive director Hillel Neuer called the resolution and the growing opposition to it “just the latest shot in an intensifying campaign of U.N. resolutions that dangerously seek to import Islamic anti-blasphemy prohibitions into the discourse of international human rights law.”In Islamic countries, he said, “Muslim moderates, bloggers, women seeking basic freedoms – all of these will be the first to suffer from the worsening climate of state repression in the name of state-supported Islamic orthodoxy.”The move was also “aimed at the Western world, to intimidate anyone from criticizing radical Islam and those who commit violence in its name,” Neuer said.

Will it be His Way or the Clinton Way?

Hillary Clinton was announced yesterday as nominee for the Secretary of State post in what might have been the worst kept secret in Washington. But, what is not a secret is Hillary's feelings about Obama's foreign policies and his intent to legitimize rogue leaders.

"I thought that was irresponsible and frankly naive." Hillary Clinton July 24, 2007. Referencing Barack Obama's statement that he would be prepared to meet the leaders of Iran, Syria, Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela in his first year in office.

No big deal...let bygones be bygones. It would be irresponsible for the president to sit down with those leaders, so now Madame Secretary gets the honors. But, what about Iran. Hillary has an interesting take on the little man in Tehran. Mrs. Clinton once called for a new Palestinian state when her husband was president, now she says she will come to the aid of Israel. "I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran… In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them." That question was asked by Chris Cuomo on ABC News' Good Morning America about what she would do as president if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons.

What does Obama think of Iran..."Iran, Cuba, Venezuela — these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us. And yet we were willing to talk to the Soviet Union at the time when they were saying, `We're going to wipe you off the planet." He said that at a campaign rally in Kansas in May of 2008.

So whose philosophy will win in the end. I prefer the hawk. I am a Reagan guy. Peace through strength. My gut tells me that Hillary will have to bend to the president. My hope is that Robert Gates can stand his ground.

Citi Group says Play Ball

All the talk on the street this week has been about the bail out of Citi and the big three auto makers. The big boys in Detroit are putting together plans on how to make like Lazarus and come back to life. Meanwhile, Citi is moving ahead with the naming rights to the new New York Mets baseball field in Queens. It will be called simply Citi Field. It will be the largest price paid for naming rights in the history of such things. Citi will pay $20 million a year for 20 years. My trusty pencil and paper tells me that is $400 million. According to Time magazine, this is what Citi is getting from us, the taxpayers:

"Specifically, the government will back a $306 billion pool of troubled loans and securities largely related to the foundering residential and commercial real estate markets. After Citi absorbs the first $29 billion in losses on these securities, the government — first the Treasury Department and then the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) — will step in and bear 90% of any further losses. In return, the government gets up to $7 billion in preferred Citi stock and the right to buy more shares at $10.61 — not a bargain these days, with Citi trading in the single digits, but perhaps worth more down the road. On top of that, $20 billion from the Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) will be injected into the company in exchange for preferred shares that come with an 8% dividend."

Rangel gets Tangled in a Tax Web

Who would have thought that Charles Rangel, the raspy voiced chairman of the House Ways and Means committee, would have tax troubles? This is the same committee that is responsible for writing tax bills into existence. Now, Rangel has been true to the platform of his party by attacking corporations that drill for oil offshore for not paying taxes in the U.S. But, the tune changes when a lobbyists is playing the flute. Rangel dropped plans to tax the drillers when a lobbyist came a calling and throwing dollars around. Seems Eugene Isenberg, chairman of Nabors Industries, an oil-drilling company that does some work way out in the water, has made a donation in the amount of $1 million to the "Charles B. Rangel School of Public Service" at the City College of New York. Hmmmmm. Charles Rangel met with Mr. Isenberg and the lobbyist for Nabors Industries and discussed the legislation on the same morning that the congressman and Mr. Isenberg met to talk about the chief executive's potential support for the Rangel center. And, just for dramatic effect, that meeting also took place on the very day that the offshore-taxation issue came up before his committee.

RUSSIAN ANALYST PREDICTS DECLINE AND BREAKUP OF USATue Nov 25 2008 09:04:22 ETA leading Russian political analyst has said the economic turmoil in the United States has confirmed his long-held view that the country is heading for collapse, and will divide into separate parts. Professor Igor Panarin said in an interview with the respected daily IZVESTIA published on Monday: "The dollar is not secured by anything. The country's foreign debt has grown like an avalanche, even though in the early 1980s there was no debt. By 1998, when I first made my prediction, it had exceeded $2 trillion. Now it is more than 11 trillion. This is a pyramid that can only collapse." The paper said Panarin's dire predictions for the U.S. economy, initially made at an international conference in Australia 10 years ago at a time when the economy appeared strong, have been given more credence by this year's events. When asked when the U.S. economy would collapse, Panarin said: "It is already collapsing. Due to the financial crisis, three of the largest and oldest five banks on Wall Street have already ceased to exist, and two are barely surviving. Their losses are the biggest in history. Now what we will see is a change in the regulatory system on a global financial scale: America will no longer be the world's financial regulator." When asked who would replace the U.S. in regulating world markets, he said: "Two countries could assume this role: China, with its vast reserves, and Russia, which could play the role of a regulator in Eurasia." Asked why he expected the U.S. to break up into separate parts, he said: "A whole range of reasons. Firstly, the financial problems in the U.S. will get worse. Millions of citizens there have lost their savings. Prices and unemployment are on the rise. General Motors and Ford are on the verge of collapse, and this means that whole cities will be left without work. Governors are already insistently demanding money from the federal center. Dissatisfaction is growing, and at the moment it is only being held back by the elections and the hope that Obama can work miracles. But by spring, it will be clear that there are no miracles." He also cited the "vulnerable political setup", "lack of unified national laws", and "divisions among the elite, which have become clear in these crisis conditions." He predicted that the U.S. will break up into six parts - the Pacific coast, with its growing Chinese population; the South, with its Hispanics; Texas, where independence movements are on the rise; the Atlantic coast, with its distinct and separate mentality; five of the poorer central states with their large Native American populations; and the northern states, where the influence from Canada is strong. He even suggested that "we could claim Alaska - it was only granted on lease, after all." Where is the Change that was Promised?

Barack Obama is still two months from taking office, but he is already going back on a campaign promise....Change. "Change We Can Believe In" has given way to the same ole Washington insiders. First to get the nod was fellow Illinois hack Rahm Emanuel, a veteran of the Clinton administration. Next up is Eric Holder, who was the Justice Department's No. 2 man when Sen. Clinton's husband was president. Holder, as Deputy Attorney General under Janet Reno during the Clinton Administration, said that the Second Amendment does not protect an individual right to bear arms, but instead protects the right to have a firearm when serving with a militia. After leaving office, Holder signed Janet Reno's brief to the Supreme Court in the Heller case, which stated, "The Second Amendment does not protect firearms possession or use that is unrelated to participation in a well-regulated militia." So much for Obama being a supporter of the Second Amendment. Holder is also linked to the Mark Rich pardon at the end of the Clinton years. But, keep in mind that Denise Rich raised and donated more than $1 million to the Democratic Party and also provided the Clintons directly with a $10,000 contribution to their legal defense fund and $7,300 worth of furniture. All is forgiven.

Now move to Hillary herself, who sources say will accept the Secretary of State post. Do you see any change yet? Let's not forget about Tom Daschle. He has been tapped for the Department of Health and Human Services to spot. That chair controls almost a quarter of all federal spending. After his defeat in the Senate, Tom stayed in D.C. to "advise" public policy on health care with the firm of Alston and Bird. Daschle's wife was acting administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration in the Clinton administration and is one of Washington's top lobbyists. Change? Anyone see change in these positions?

The Indiana Attorney General and the Federal Prosecutor for this district are ready to act, but the Clarksville Town Council is refusing to simply enforce existing laws by not allowing the local police to bust the facility. The council has been approached in private with the results of this 24 month investigation by a professional former FBI agent who calls Theatair X violations of sex laws "the worst I've seen in my 26 year career," but the council says it will not act because it has not heard any complaints from the citizens of this area about Theatair X. "

Maybe there haven't been any complaints because the ones that would be complaining do not go to this establishment and the ones that do are not complaining. It is time for Clarksville to clean up their town. Many don't know, but Veteran's Parkway was slated to go right through the Theatair X property, but with some fancy legal work and route changes, we now have our children asking what all the X's are for when we simply want to go to Lowe's.

The press conference to unveil to the news media the illegal activities taking place at Theatair X will occur Tuesday beginning promptly at 5:30 PM and ending promptly at 6:15 PM at Kye's I in Jeffersonville. A link to ROCK's site is at the right.

Floyd County Tables Tax, Then Flip Flops Again

The new Floyd County income tax was shelved briefly by Larry McAllister and then put back in rotation. Seems Larry Mac wanted to wait until after the first of the year to get a glimpse of what the state had in store for counties. The pressure from citizens helped him make that decision. Then the faithful democrats went to work, doing what they do....call the lawyers. Terese Plaiss, the county auditor, took it upon herself to call Ice Miller in Indianapolis. After learning that the council would have to wait until April 1, 2009 to act if it didn't pass the tax before the end of 2008, the measure once again found favor with Big Mac. Grab your ankles Floyd County. In an attempt to show that there is plenty of room for more taxes, I will list some that we already pay. I am sure I will leave some out, so jump right in with the sneaky little one I forget.

If You Like Taxes, You Will Love Floyd County

The Floyd County Council voted 4 to 3 right along party lines last night for a 1.25% income tax on the good people. Four democrats aye, three republicans nay. Teresa Plaiss, the county auditor, said the money would go to property tax relief. Is it really relief if you just shift the tax from your house to your income? The quarter percent will go to public safety and will generate an estimated $4 million per year. The kicker yet again is that the money will be divided equally between the city and county police and fire. According to the CJ, "Those speaking in favor of the tax included Carl Malysz, New Albany's deputy mayor; Paul Haub, president of the New Albany police union; Jeff Firkins, president of the county police union; city Police Chief Greg Crabtree; county Sheriff Darrell Mills; and city fire Chief Matt Juliot." Imagine....people spending the money asking for more. Those opposed to the measure were, drum roll please, the citizens of Floyd County. I know I will have plenty of comments on here about the safety departments being stretched too thin and frankly I have heard all that jazz before. What we need is a comprehensive overhaul of city and county government. We need to prioritize the needs and wants. Taxation is not the answer. I thought liberals were supposed to be the creative types. All I am hearing is the same old tax and spend mantra. Maybe that is why the democrats control the council. They love taxes and right now, Floyd county is the place to be.

Forget Gay Marriage, California Says No to Bake Sales

Is California the strangest state in America? Yes, by far. CBS news has reported that baked goods are still allowed to be sold at bakeries, but not at school fundraisers. The reason behind this ridiculous law...childhood obesity. "Food sales are a big part of our community," said Wendy Morrison, the mother of a fifth-grader at Montclair Elementary. "They're more than just the selling of food. It's community coming together."Morrison mourns the loss."It was actually a beloved tradition at the school."California's effort to get fat and sugar out of school foods goes far beyond the disappearing bake sale tables. School lunches no longer consist of hot dogs, french fries and nachos. Choices now include spinach salad, healthy burritos and grilled chicken."

Also in the new "alternative school" being set up in Chicago for gay, lesbian and trans-whatever teens, PETA is pushing for an all vegetarian menu. Come on in big brother and tell me what I can eat today.

Is This the Dawning of a One World System?

I don't want to be an alarmist, but there is a lot of talk coming from all corners of the earth to create a truly global financial system. Great Britain's Prime Minister has used the economic crisis to call for just that. Gordon Brown is set to speak tonight on foreign policy, but the policy sounds more like a bad sci-fi flick from the 1970's. "My message is that we must be: internationalist not protectionist; interventionist not neutral; progressive not reactive; and forward looking not frozen by events. We can seize the moment and in doing so build a truly global society." Just how do we build that truly global society? The first step is to convince America to give up her sovereign right to her own currency. The argument will be made that the dollar is weak, hard to regulate and has pictures of those guys that don't look like our president elect. The Euro will be the preferred currency of the world. Of course, it will have to be renamed to appease Americans who are more concerned about the name than they are the consequences. Perhaps the new note should be called the "Worldo" or the "Globalo." Oh, how the far left would love that. We will be told that all money is fiat money anyway, so why does it matter what you carry in your wallet. Besides, you won't have to worry about exchange rates on your next trip to Belgium. Heck, why even carry paper money at all. We all have plastic now and cash is so senior citizen like. You think it can't happen here? Take a look at those governments across the pond about ten years back. Look familiar? "...And if we learn from our experience of turning unity of purpose into unity of action, we can together seize this moment of change in our world to create a truly global society." Mr. Brown will champion it tonight. He has gone as far as to advocate global tax guidelines, with Americans picking up most of the tab, I am sure. Even former USSR head Mikhail Gorbachev has said "being a liberal himself, he thinks that the world will take a left turn," and that "a global perestroika would be a logical response to the global crisis." "The paradigm of global development is about to change. The era inaugurated by Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher 30 years ago is over." Oh my!

I can hear the chants now....Obama for president of the world.

Local Tax Payers Get Sold Down the River or EDIT in a Dingy

New Albany has a new boat and you can't play the slots on it. According to the CJ, the New Albany Fire Department has purchased an aluminum fire boat for the river. Cost to you? A measly $100,00. In a time when the budget is tight and communication between the mayor and council is loose, was this a wise purchase? To add a little excitement to the argument, the money was pulled from the FDNA pension fund. It was dollars set aside to encourage members to retire from the department. Now what? A majority of council members have said they would have not voted for this "capital project."

The chief said the current boat is not suitable for the river because it was designed for lake use. They plan to sell that craft to offset the 100K bill on the new one. If your town is on a major river, why would you ever buy a boat for a lake? An even better question - if you are a citizen of New Albany, why would you expect any different?

Hamas to Send Congratulatory Letter to Obama - What Did You Expect?

Ahmed Yousef, the political advisor of the terrorist group Hamas, said today that Barack Obama's victory was historic and he is drafting a letter praising Obama. He said the letter will be sent directly to him, presumably as all the letters from past months have been. In case you are not familiar with Hamas, they are the group responsible for scores of suicide bombings, rocket attacks, shootings and cross-border raids. Its official charter calls for the murder of Jews and destruction of Israel. Hamas' maps do not even show Israel on them. Just today, Hamas members took responsibility for launching dozens of rockets from Gaza aimed at Jewish civilian population centers. Several Israelis were injured in the attacks.

We want to be one of the first to congratulate him," Yousef said.
"This is an historic day, a turning point. I think this is the very first time in history that one country's election concerned everyone everywhere all over [the] world," said Yousef. "Everybody is looking forward to Obama's change, for a change in the U.S. policy, particularly in the Israeli-Palestinian equation, which is the mother of all conflicts."

No word yet on when Mr. Obama plans to sit down unconditionally with Hamas.

Where Do We Go From Here?

It was a thorough defeat, and we deserved it. We drifted so far from what this movement was founded on. We had our chance and we blew it. I fear now we will spend years in the wilderness, wandering aimlessly and waiting for someone to show us the way. Who will lead the Republican party forward? Will the party return to its roots or move to the center? How long will it take to get us there? These are the questions I pondered as I drifted off to sleep while Barack Obama spoke to thousands in Grant Park and millions around the world.

Who will lead us? The obvious names pop into my mind. Mitch McConnell escaped to remain minority leader in the senate. Sarah Palin surely has loftier goals ahead. Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee could take the lead. Or we can look to someone younger, more dynamic. Someone like Bobby Jindal or Michael Steele. Or maybe it will be someone we haven't heard of yet. Someone like the man Obama was just a few short years ago as a state senator.

Will the party return to its roots or move to the center? There was a lot of talk in this cycle when John McCain grabbed the nomination of the party splitting and a new "conservative" party being formed. Let me strongly state that I believe this would be devastating. This party is still the big tent party. There is plenty of room for everyone here. I believe movement to the right on the size and scope of government is the key. George W. did a lousy job in this area. He presided over the growth of government, not the reduction. I believe abortion is still a valid argument for conservatives. It is likely now to never be overturned because of the Supreme Court Justices that will be appointed by Obama. That doesn't mean we forget the issue. We need to educate people on the trauma that is inflicted on the unborn as well as the mother and the father. We need to focus on helping those facing this decision and reduce abortions from the grassroots level instead of the executive level. It is time to cut loose the Bush presidency and return to fiscal responsibility. The budget deficit is a disgrace and spending is out of control. Republicans had nothing to say to the American people. They had nothing new under the sun to run on. We have many good ideas in this party. We need to articulate them and help the public to understand them.

How long will it take? That is up to us. Will we mope and complain about this administration or will we get off our cans and fight for it. If the tax increases go into effect sooner rather than later, we could gain seats in the house in two years. Or we could be out for ten. It is our choice. We need to rally around new leadership, embrace the values and positions that swept the Republicans into power in 1994 in the House of Representatives and we need to do it soon. Ronald Reagan is still the model we strive to emulate.

I want to congratulate Mitch Daniels, Tony Bennett and especially Ed Clere for their victories. Ed, you have ousted one of the strongholds of the Democratic Party in this state. You did it in short order and with positions that were clear and understandable. We need more of that in Southern Indiana. I look forward to speaking with you soon. As for now, we have a lot of work to do.

According to One "Economist," the Threshold Will be Much Lower

I want to thank Dave for sending along an opinion piece from the WSJ by an economics professor named Adam Lerrick. In the article, Mr. Lerrick explains how the tax burden for the socialist programs (my phrase) will be shifted to those in the $75,000 range. The number of those paying no tax at all will increase by 9%. You can have all the endorsements you want from a publication called "The Economist," but the numbers don't add up. Educated, small business owner....you might want to check your earnings in November to see if you need to take the month of December off. We wouldn't want to be productive, now would we?

Obama Promises to Bankrupt Coal Industry

A report released just this weekend of a January, 2008 interview with the San Fransisco Chronicle quotes Senator Obama on his plans for the coal industry. “… if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can,” Obama told the Chronicle in January. “It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted." For those that are not aware, coal is the most abundant natural resource in the United States. America's coal has been compared to Saudi Arabia's oil. We will have to wait and see how this affects some major swing states in this election. West Virginia, Ohio, Colorado and especially Pennsylvania are the states in play that have thousands of jobs in the coal industry. Obama also explained his energy policy as being no "booster" of coal and that he will use "price signals" to control America's energy use. Read that as you paying a lot more for the energy you use. Senator McCain tried to capitalize on the remarks yesterday, but many republican strategists feel that it came to light too late in the campaign to make much of a difference.

Want to Keep More of the Money You Earned? Obama Calls You Selfish

Senator Obama has called hard working Americans that don't want to see an increase in their taxes "selfish." Sticks and stones senator....He also hearkened back to the Clinton administration and doted over his economic policies. Only problem is that it started in the Reagan era. The phrase "a rising tide lifts all boats" was an argument for trickle down Reaganomics. Here is the full quote, try not to gag on your keyboard.

"The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich," Obama said in Sarasota, Florida, yesterday. "I love rich people! I want all of you to be rich. Go for it. That’s the America dream, that’s the American way, that’s terrific.

Will America Have Buyer's Remorse?

The man can move a crowd, no doubt about it. He speaks with ease and flows in and out of talking points better than Bill Clinton. He has built his prominence out of thin air. He is a blank slate that voted present a hundred times. He is the one, Barack Obama. But, will America wake up next Wednesday with an election speech induced hang over and ask themselves "What have we done?" Will they realize, the owners and managers of companies, the hard working middle class, the one's that drive this economy and push America to improve daily....will they realize that words really do matter? Obama's economic plans have been tested. They have had a long trial run in places like France. Daniel Patrick Moynihan once claimed "America's economy is one of liberty, Europe's is one of equality." I know plenty of so called progressives in my town that long for this situation. I see it as a longing for everyone to be mediocre. Mona Charon wrote today this excerpt: "If Barack Obama is elected president and Democrats control large majorities in the House and Senate, the Obama/Pelosi/Reid triumvirate will move the country decisively in the direction of dying Europe -- low productivity, high joblessness, low birth rates, high taxes, and limp foreign policies. The triumvirate will do this at a time when a vibrant America is more necessary than ever -- with Iran seeking nuclear weapons, Pakistan teetering, al-Qaida regrouping, China and Russia telegraphing hostility, and Iraq just barely emerging into the sunshine. " That says a lot in just a few lines. Is this really what Americans want? To just be? To conform to the world's standards of productivity, ingenuity and tax rates? I don't believe it truly is and I certainly hope we don't all wake up on November 5th with a buyer's remorse migraine.

I have discovered the LA Times tape in question and was surprised that Obama used an old Irish toast. It fit quite well for Rashid, a former PLO spokesman. The following is what I uncovered.

Baron Hill is one slippery dude. He doesn't like to get pinned down on issues around election time and you hardly ever see video of him talking about issues. Thankfully, he still has a voting record. Let's take a brief stroll down roll call lane and see if his votes match up with the ideals that the majority in this district still hold dear.

And this is just a partial list. Add to that the fact that as of June 2008, Baron had over $1.7 million on hand for his re-election bid. 65% of that money came from political committees and only 17% came from actual Hoosiers. I can only assume that most of that amount was from IU professors.


Mix it all together and bake it at 350 degrees for an hour and you get something that resembles an inside the beltway liberal. That is not representative of our district. One more thing to consider....Just look who this guy hangs out with.

Sarah Palin and Bocephus Tonight

The countdown is on. Eight hours till Sarah Palin rocks that big warehouse in Jeffersonville. I plan on getting there early and you should too. Organizers are planning on around 20,000 people being there. That is a tad more than showed up for Joe Biden a few weeks back. Doors open at 4:30 and Hank hits the stage at 6:30. The only thing that could infuriate liberals more would be Ted Nugent and Mitch Daniels on their Harley's. I feel like I am eighteen again sitting in Dan Quayle's Vice Presidential office. See you there and don't forget to wear red, a symbol of keeping the Hoosier state in the Republican category.

Rokita Seeks Criminal Probe of ACORN

Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita has requested a criminal investigation into the activities of ACORN which has been under scrutiny in Lake County. The request cites over 1,400 questionable voter registrations in that county. "This is a fraud perpetrated on all of the people of Indiana, because fraudulent registrations are the first step in diluting the voice of honest voters and rendering an inaccurate tally on Election Day," Rokita stated in his request to state and federal law enforcement officials. Federal law enforcement is also looking into the matter in Indiana as well as many other states.

Reagan's Sarcasm is Obama's Talking Point

The great Ronald Reagan once joked in Washington about the liberals view of taxation and spending, "If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it." Barack Obama has taken those words to heart and will see them through if he is elected.

Township Assessor? I am Voting Yes.

The goal of most conservatives is to streamline government and keep taxation low and fair. With all the talk of property taxes in Indiana, there is one change we can make close to home that brings us near to the efficiency and fairness we all want to see. The last question of the ballot in Floyd County Township reads, “Should the assessing duties of the elected township assessor in the township be transferred to the county assessor?” Voting YES will eliminate the office, voting NO will keep it. I am voting "Yes." There are over 1000 township assessors in Indiana and they assess property in 1000 different ways. Let's correct this problem, have all property assessed according to a standard, make it a more efficient process and have the opportunity as citizens to assess the person we elect every four years. Vote for less government and fairer tax bills on November 4. Vote YES.

Was Barack Obama a member of the "New Party?" The New Party is made up from leaders of the Democratic Socialists for America and claims as a member another radical by the name of Noam Chomsky. Recent photos and articles have surfaced showing Barack posing with members of the party at a membership meeting in 1996 as reported by the newsletter "New Deal."

Joe Biden has done exactly what we have expected him to do. He keeps talking and talking and doesn't know when to just shut up. Now he has said that Obama will be tested by the world in his first six months in office by "a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. " Can we afford for the terrorists and the rogue states to test this man? "Mark my words," Biden said in Seattle,
"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. "

Returning to Our Roots

Much has been opined about my profile and the statement that I wish to return Southern Indiana and this nation to the principles that made her the greatest on earth. What are those roots? Liberals will have you believe that our roots have nothing to do with religion, the Bible, Jesus, the Gospels or anything remotely pertaining to the subject. I find it peculiar that these students of history choose to overlook the faith that out forefathers put into the Almighty. They overlook that one of their favorite institutions, Harvard, was founded as a Christian College. 106 out of the first 108 institutions of higher learning in America were Christian based. One of the requirements for entering Harvard was knowledge of Latin and Greek so students could study the Bible. It's right there in the original handbook. 'Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed to consider well, the main end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, John 17:3; and therefore to lay Jesus Christ as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning. And seeing the Lord only giveth wisdom, let everyone seriously set himself by prayer in secret to seek it of him (Proverbs 2:3).' In the first 100 years, half of the graduates from Harvard were pastors.

Our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence and quickly voted to import 20,000 Bibles for the citizens to use. Patrick Henry is best noted for his quote "Give me liberty or give me death." Take that quote in its full context and you get something quite different. 'An appeal to arms and the God of hosts is all that is left us. But we shall not fight our battle alone. There is a just God that presides over the destinies of nations. The battle sir, is not of the strong alone. Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it almighty God. I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death.' You won't find that in the history books at your local school today. He went on to say in the following year of 1776, 'It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here.'

In George Washington's farewell address in 1796 he stated, 'It is impossible to govern the world without God and the Bible. Of all the dispositions and habits that lead to political prosperity, our religion and morality are the indispensable supporters. Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that our national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.' This from the father of our country.

Of course, as progressives will note, we have grown as a country. We have had several Supreme Court decisions that have "advanced" us as a society. The first was in 1947, when this prayer was removed. 'Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence on Thee. We beg Thy blessings upon us and our parents and our teachers and our country. Amen.' Then in 1963, the Supreme Court banished the Bible from public schools. Part of the summary for the majority was this. 'If portions of the New Testament were read without explanation, they could and have been psychologically harmful to children.' Really? In 1965, the Court again took more rights when they denied a student from praying aloud over his food at lunch time. Now they were on a roll. In 1980, the 10 commandments were removed from school because students might actually "read them." James Madison, the man credited with writing the bulk of the Constitution, had a different view. 'We have staked the whole future of our new nation, not upon the power of government; far from it. We have staked the future of all our political constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves to govern ourselves according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments.' Just don't read them.

I am not advocating making every public school in America a theist institution. We have private schools for that. I do however support vouchers for parents so that they can make the decision on which school their child attends, public or private. I do condone a return to the principles on which this country was founded and which made her great. That doesn't mean you have to be a Christian or religious person, but you do have to be honest, work hard and play by the rules. Freedom of religion is a basic right and if not for the Christians that founded this country and sacrificed for her, others would not have that right.

What McCain Should Have Said

Everybody wants details. Details about the candidates policies. Details about who they have been involved with. Well there was one moment in the debate last night when Senator McCain should have given the full details. He cornered Senator Obama on partial birth abortion, saying he voted present in the Illinois legislature, then let him go. He should have given details...details about the procedure. Americans are against late term and partial birth abortions by a vast majority. I would have put it something like this: Mr. Obama believes not only in partial birth abortions, he believes the American tax payer should pay the bill. He voted present to save face because the procedure is so barbaric. Mr. Obama, tell the American people that may not know how a partial birth abortion is performed. No, you don't want to tell them? I will. It is just like the name suggests. The woman is induced into labor and pushes the baby through the birth canal till just the head is out of the mother's body. Then a doctor pierces the back of the baby's skull by the neck and a vacuum is used to suck the brains out. The body of the baby is then fully delivered. If the baby should somehow survive this despicable act, it is placed in a bag and put on a shelf till it dies of neglect. And you sir voted PRESENT.... that does not line up with the values of the American people.

And just think, Obama will have the chance to shore up the court with the most liberal of judges that will continue the killing for another thirty years. Heaven help us.

Q and A with Dave Matthews

Recently I have had the opportunity to ask a few questions of the Floyd County Republican Chairman, who just so happens to be running for commissioner. I asked Dave what he thought the biggest issue was in this year's election? His response is below.


Dan,
The leading issue nationally is the economy and how its changes are affecting every one of us. That would have to be equally as important locally, here in Floyd County, as it is everywhere else. If Governor Daniels gets re-elected November 4th, as I believe he will, I believe he will begin his process of trimming local governments and their expenditures. I do not agree with all of these initiatives. However, there are certainly government expenditures at the County level that can be trimmed and made more efficient. I do not agree that we need only one County Commissioner, and I don't think the voters do either. However, there might be other county offices......for example, township assessors.....whose responsibilities could be covered by a central County agency, such as the County Assessor. If County governments are going to have their State funding trimmed, we will have to find efficiencies that we haven't tried before and find better ways to do business. I want our teachers, fireworkers and police agencies to have higher wages but this will have to be balanced with budget concerns in many other areas.

I hope to bring you more from Mr. Matthews soon with some details of how we can achieve the goals with less revenue.

"Global Warming" is so 2007

Al Gore's favorite phrase is out of vogue. The new phrase is "Climate Change." Why the need for the updated lingo? Because evidence shows that the natural warming cycle of the earth is ending and now a cooling cycle has started. Let's not forget about the global warming state of California, where green is the new black. Expect to pay more for that Chardonnay. I guess "Global Cooling" doesn't have the same ring to it as "Climate Change," the new buzzword for 2009.

The Plan is to "Spread the Wealth"

At a recent door to door stop in Ohio, Senator Obama had a somewhat intimate conversation with a local plumber. The plumber asked Mr. Obama straight up if he believed in the American Dream. Obama said yes, of course. The hard working plumber went on tell Obama how he was a partial stake holder in the plumbing business with plans to purchase it all as soon as he could. In short, he was working his tail off to better himself and his family. He explained to Obama that he was being taxed for realizing his dream. Obama quickly rattled off his false 95% plan and then it happened. He told the plumber that the plan is "to spread the wealth around." Channeling Huey Long and sounding like the abortion quote he put forth about his daughters, he followed with "It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too." Read as they will have success because of your work, not theirs.

"Hard work is damn near as overrated as monogamy." One of my favorites from the ole guy from Louisiana. But, I have a new take on his old fascism quote...."Is socialism ever comes to America, it will be wrapped in an American flag and be carried by the most liberal man in the nation, Barack Obama."

Farrakhan Says When Obama Talks, The Messiah is Speaking

This one got my creepy senses tingling. First we had the children singing and chanting that Obama "is going to save us." Now we have Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan saying the words of the Messiah come out of Obama's mouth. These are his words earlier this year at the Saviour's Day 2008 put on by the Nation of Islam:



"You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn't care anything about. That's a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking."








There have been many incidents of people comparing the Junior Senator from Illinois to the Jewish Carpenter from Nazareth. We all remember that Obama was a "community organizer" like Jesus. We have heard that Pontius Pilot was a governor, like Sara Palin. Rush had a different take recently on his show. "I know Jesus Christ. I pray to Jesus Christ all the time," said Limbaugh." I study what Jesus Christ did and said all the time, and let me tell you something, Barack Obama, you are no Jesus Christ." He went on to add, "I can't find any such references to Jesus promoting infanticide nor do I find any references to Jesus Christ suggesting sex education be taught to 4- and 5-year-olds, but I'm still looking in the New Testament and I'll let you all know if I come up with anything."

Imagine any pundit or religious leader on the right comparing McCain or Palin to the Deity. Imagine the outrage that would flow from that. Farrakhan is another violent, unrepentant terrorist in the fold of Obama.

Finally, let's take Obama in his own words. Speaking at Dartmouth, he told a gathering of students before the New Hampshire primary in January this : "a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote" for Obama.


If Obama is the Messiah, I just turned atheist.

ACORN Falls in Indiana, What a Bunch of Nuts!

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, has been busted in Indiana for fraudulently registering voters. This group is closely involved with Barack Obama and the liberal left. One of Obama's first jobs after law school was with them in Chicago. Just the other day, Lake County officials reported major abnormalities in a high number of the registrants that ACORN turned in. "Elections Board Director Sally LaSota and Ruthann Hoagland, a county elections board technologist overseeing voter registration, said Wednesday it appears some ACORN vote canvassers pulled names and addresses from telephone books and forged their signatures" http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/10/03/acorn-nailed-registering-dead-people-in-indiana/ The report also showed an application filled out as Jimmy Johns is actually a fast food restaurant in Crown Point and an application for a Gary man that had died almost a year earlier. The report noted that many of the registrations also had the same hand writing style.

Indiana is not the only state where ACORN has found itself in trouble. In Nevada, official raided the Las Vegas headquarters after receiving multiple registrations in the same name and ones with fake or duplicate addresses. They are also being investigated in Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida. I am sure more states will follow.

What's worse than blatantly violating voter registration rules is that this organization receives over 40% of their working budget from tax payers like you and I. The other 60% comes from liberal hacks. Obama has even trained volunteers for ACORN and members have worked on his campaign. In Ohio, homeless people were driven to the polls for early registration and same day voting. All on your dime.

We all know that the Obomunist nation will do whatever it takes to win, including registering one man in Florida eleven times, but this is just nutty. Where is the mainstream media on this one. The blogosphere is the only place to read about it.

450 Pages of the same ole BS

Has anyone read the bailout bill? Has any legislatures read it? I have read most of it and this is some of the garbage that is tucked into what is supposed to be a bailout package. There are many provisions for disaster relief and land use committees. All noble causes, just not the right place for it. This bill could have been condensed into 50 pages or less.

Page 290 - Extension for tax exemption and Seven year cost recovery for Motor Racing Race Tracks.

Page 295 - Extension on the exemption for Wool research and the Wool Research Fund. Huh?

Page 298 - Extension for the Film and Television Production Industry.

Page 300 - and my personal favorite.....Extension on the tax exemption for companies that manufacture certain wooden arrows for children's toys.

The constituents have spoken. The email to Congress was running 90% against the bill and this is why. We need a bill to keep our markets moving, not a bill to give more away.

Question of the day - Who is going to oversee the oversight committee on this?

You Have to Hear This

I will never forget Harvest Homecoming 2006. I was mingling with the crowd when who should appear from the other direction? Mr. Baron Hill. He obviously was not interested in answering any questions, only in making a quick appearance in the south. After an attempt to have him answer a question about a television commercial that he was airing was brushed off, he was ushered off by his handlers while I explained to him that he was a liar. A quirky smile was all I got in return. I have know for many years that this man is rude and carries a persona of being above the constituency in which he claims to serve. Now there is audible proof.

Another prominent Dem "in bed" with Fannie Mae

Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, was once romantically involved with an executive at Fannie Mae. The man's name is Herb Moses and he was the boyfriend of openly gay Representative Frank of Massachusetts. Frank's committee is the sole oversight of the industry. His lover was responsible for introducing and developing new initiatives for borrowers. Barney Frank has received more than $40,000 in campaign contributions from Fannie Mae since 1989. Meanwhile, Frank fed the pig that Fannie had become with more programs to lure in borrowers that couldn't afford the mortgage. Just when you thought we had hit the bottom, Dems pull out the shovel and keep digging.

Gore Spews Hypocricy

Al Gore has done it again. He recently told students to practice civil disobedience to stop any further coal fired plants in America. Meanwhile back at the dock, Gore's new 100 foot houseboat sits plugged in at the Marina. Sure his new boat is eco-friendly. It runs on bio diesel. Only problem is that the marina doesn't sell bio diesel. It sells off road diesel that has less pollution restrictions than what is sold at the corner filling station. Never fear greenies....he will soon add solar panels. I think they are being flown in on his private jet to his mcmansion. All of which are powered by his own hot air.

Feds to Spend One Trillion on Financial Mess, Free Markets and Tax Payers be Damned

How absurd can this really get. Henry Paulson, the Treasury Secretary and Ben Bernanke, the Federal Reserve Chairman, announced plans for the federal government to pump in as much as one trillion dollars to stem the sinking financial markets. That is a 1 with 12 zeros behind it. Read federal government as "tax payers." We are again bailing out a group that is so greedy and corrupt, that is mixed up with politicians and foreign governments, that never learns a lesson. American citizens are allowed to fail when they make bad choices, why not AIG? Big banks go under every year, this is nothing new. What is new is the governments willingness to double the national deficit and hand it off to the next generation. In a free market there are risks. Sometimes the risk will put you out of business. There is no small business in this country that can operate the way Wall Street and our Federal Government operate. Oh, the markets loved the news. Worldwide they gained like no other day in memory. But, the people that will foot the bill are left scratching their heads. Those tax cuts that McCain wants to make permanent...aint gonna happen. The tax cut on 95% of Americans that Obama is touting....no way. It is simply not possible with this debt load. Craig R. Smith, in a commentary to World Net Daily, has this to say... "Our best years are ahead if we learn from the mistakes that have been made and not look to government for the answers to our problems. Government is not the solution to the problem; government is the problem. We must work together. We must allow free markets to punish those who did wrong, weed out the weak borrowers and reward those who borrowed honestly. If we don't, we are headed for even more difficult times.
We can avoid those difficult times if we believe in less government, more personal responsibility and accountability from leaders in both the private and public sectors."

Truth In Advertising

Barack was on the stump yesterday in Colorado, reading from the teleprompter words prepared by a campaign speech writer. The speech went well, sounded fine, but was a contradiction unto itself. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were one of the topics. These are the government backed mortgage companies that gorged themselves on for a decade on the hard earned money of the lower and middle class of America. Democrats pitched in by trying to create social change in their voting districts by encouraging families to grab the American dream. This meant taking on mortgages they couldn't afford on houses that were not worth what they paid for them. Simple supply side economics. House flippers noticed that more folks were able to buy houses, greater demand, so the prices went up, to balance that supply side. Fannie and Freddie kept qualifying people for the loans and then selling them to investors in bundles. The bubble grew bigger. So, where does Barack Obama and the democrats come in again? The next two paragraphs are from Obama's speech yesterday:

OBAMA: Over the last few days, we have seen clearly what's at stake in this election. The news from Wall Street has shaken the American people's faith in our economy. The situation with Lehman Brothers and other financial institutions is the latest in a wave of crises that have generated tremendous uncertainty about the future of our financial markets. This is a major threat to our economy and its ability to create good-paying jobs and help working Americans pay their bills, save for their future, and make their mortgage payments.
Since this turmoil began over a year ago, the housing market has collapsed. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had to be effectively taken over by the government. Three of America's five largest investment banks failed or have been sold off in distress. Yesterday, Wall Street suffered its worst losses since just after 9/11. We are in the most serious financial crisis in generations.

Now let's follow the dollars.

Barack is listed number 3 on the list and the dates here are from 1989 to 2008. He has only been in the Senate for 3 years. That is a lot of money in a short time. Oh, but the contradictions continue. How can you take money from a group with one hand and point your finger at them with the other?

Truth In Advertising, Part 2

Barack Obama was given advanced warning about the government takeover of the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Useful information for a politician, you might say. Especially for the "chosen one" from Illinois. Turns out that Obama's top economic advisor is a man named Franklin Raines. You may not be familiar with this name, but I will fill you in on his qualifications. Mr. Raines was the executive in charge of Fannie Mae during the peak of it snake oil sales. Mr. Raines pushed and pushed for the programs that have brought this organization to its knees. His haul for all the hard work? $90 million in bonuses over a five year period. He took over for a guy name Jim Johnson. Mr. Johnson also pocketed millions in bonuses and is also an economic advisor to Obama. Big bonuses, huge campaign contributions, a golden parachute to escape the mess and a soft landing in the Obama campaign. Does this sound like "Change We Need" ?

UAW Has the Car Running and the Garage Door Down

I want to thank Ron, a UAW retiree that put in 30 hard years, for reminding me once again of the blinders that blur the vision of that once admired association. His question to me was "Why does the UAW insist on committing suicide by continuing to endorse and donate to liberal candidates?" Great question...You see, I too at one time was a UAW member. Thirteen years on an assembly line. I questioned many times why the union would support a candidate that advocates unrestricted trade with China when it puts American manufacturers at such a disadvantage. In fact, in 2002 the UAW would not endorse either candidate for the 9th district race in Indiana. When questioned why this was so, I was told that was the decision and there would be no further explanation. The union simply will not endorse a Republican, namely Mike Sodrel, even if it means helping the industry in which they claim to represent workers. The union even attached its logo and helped pay for an advertisement thanking Congressman Hill last year for helping to pass higher CAFE standards. Isn't that like a chicken thanking Colonel Sanders for ridding the fryer of trans fats? You are still going to fry! Why would you want to put even more restrictions on the products that you produce, especially when high MPG automobiles already exist? I know I have written about this before in one of my earliest blogs, but it is worth repeating. The UAW would donate to a yellow dog if it had a "D" behind its name. The only difference this time is that the yellow dog has started the car with the garage door down and the union is in the backseat.
